Résumé
Flor V. Barnola (Flor Vásquez de Barnola) nació en Nueva Esparta, Venezuela. Se formó como científica entre el Instituto Venezolano de Investigaciones
Científicas (IVIC) y la Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV) antes de que en Venezuela se formalizaran los estudios de postgrado en ciencias. Luego
de un breve tiempo como profesora en la UCV investigando el efecto de la insulina sobre el metabolismo de los aminoácidos, regresó al IVIC donde dedicó
su vida profesional a la fisiología y bioquímica que hay detrás del impulso nervioso. Fue nombrada Investigadora Emérita del IVIC como reconocimiento a
su aporte científico en 1991. Falleció en Caracas a causa de un infarto en 1997.

| Resumen en otro Idioma | Flor V. Barnola (Flor Vásquez de Barnola) was born in Nueva Esparta, Venezuela. She was trained as a scientist between The Venezuelan Institute of Scientific Research (IVIC) and the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) before the postgraduate studies in sciences were formalized in Venezuela. After a brief time as a professor at the UCV investigating the effect of insulin on the metabolism of amino acids, she returned to IVIC where she dedicated her professional life to the physiology and biochemistry behind the nerve impulse. She was appointed Researcher Emeritus of IVIC in recognition of his scientific contribution in 1991. She died in Caracas because of a heart attack in 1997 |
