El presente artículo representa
un acercamiento preliminar de lo
que signifi ca organizar y festejar
Sk’in Ch’ulelal, Fiesta de las
Almas, Todos Santos o Día de
Muertos entre los mayas tsotsilestseltales
de los Altos de Chiapas,
México, la relación que se establece
entre los seres humanos vivos
con las almas de los difuntos,
con las dimensiones tangibles e
intangibles, con la Madre Tierra y
con el cosmos; las responsabilidades
y los compromisos que se
adquieren para los preparativos
en ofrendar y celebrar las almas.
Es un acercamiento sobre el stalel
kuxlejal, los elementos identitarios
de la cultura maya tsotsil-tseltal
contemporánea.

Resumen en otro Idioma | This article presents a preliminary understanding of the significance in planning and celebrating Sk’in Ch’ulelal, the Festival of the Souls, All Saints, or The Day of the Dead, among the Tsotsil and Tseltsal Mayans in the highlands of Chiapas, Mexico. It explores the relationship established between live human beings and the souls of the dead through tangible and intangible dimensions, Mother Earth and the cosmos. In addition, it studies the responsibilities and commitments attained during the preparation of the altars and celebration of the souls. The topic is approached through stalel kuxlejal and identical elements found in contemporary Tsotsil-Tseltsal culture. |
