Résumé
En este artículo se plantea que las instituciones establecidas en la Provincia de Mérida entre 1830 y 1855 encargadas de
administrar justicia, tuvieron una gestión limitada, porque aplicaron leyes que por su ambigüedad no estaban acordes con el nuevo cuadro social de la República venezolana. También se analiza cómo en esta época en la Provincia de Mérida no existían los elementos adecuados para una efi caz aplicación de la justicia.
