Resumen
La región sahelo-sahariana correspondiente al África occidental ha sido afectada por la expansión del activismo terrorista. A partir de 2015, los grupos que operaban en el Sahel mantuvieron su tendencia a la fragmentación, impulsada esta etapa por el surgimiento de la organización conocida como Estado Islámico, cuyo nombre oficial es Estado Islámico de Iraq y Siria (EIIS). El objetivo del presente artículo es caracterizar el comportamiento de las organizaciones terroristas en el Sahel luego de la emergencia del Estado Islámico y cómo se modificaron las relaciones entre los grupos previamente existentes en esta zona entre el 2015 y el 2020.

Starting in 2015, the groups operating in the Sahel maintained their tendency to fragment, driven at this stage by the emergence of the organization known as the Islamic State, whose official name is the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). The objective of this article is to characterize the behavior of terrorist organizations in the Sahel after the emergence of the Islamic State and how the relations between previously existing groups in this area were modified between 2015 and 2020. |
