Abstract
La revisión de una valiosa e importante historiografía sobre el acceso de las mujeres a la
educación superior, ha hecho posible desarrollar buena parte del estudio que se presenta: El
acceso de las mujeres a la educación superior. El caso de la Universidad de Los Andes. Su
examen se desarrolla en un tiempo de larga duración que lo iniciamos refiriéndonos a la
presencia tímida y germinal de la mujer el medioevo y se extiende al largo de los siglos
siguiente, en los escenarios: europeo y norteamericano. Luego el análisis se ocupa del
acceso de las mujeres a la educación superior en algunos países Latinoamericanos;
finalmente se examina su comportamiento en Venezuela y se concluye analizando el caso
de Mérida, el de la bicentenaria Universidad de Los Andes.

| Resumen en otro Idioma | The revision of a significant and valuable historiography treating the access that women have had to higher education has facilitated a good part of this study. The work is entitled: The access of women to higher education. The case of the University of the Andes. The above mentioned historiography begins in the Middle Ages. The author reveals the shy presence of women that continues to flower during the following centuries. The scenario is first that of several European countries, and then in the New World in the United States. Then the analysis goes on to deal with the access of women to higher education in various Latin American countries. Finally, there is a discussion of the situation in Venezuela, concluding with the situation as it has developed at the University of the Andes in Merida, Venezuela, founded two-hundred years ago. |
