Résumé
La Guerra de Independencia (1810-1821) y la instauración de la República de
Colombia (1821-1830) son, sin duda alguna, dos de los períodos históricos
en los que generalmente se divide la Historia de Venezuela, y que han pesado
más por sobre el resto debido a varias causas, una de ella por la participación y
mitificación de la figura del Libertador Simón Bolívar en estos acontecimientos.
La historiografía se ha encargado de estudiar principalmente los aspectos del
proceso en la provincia de Caracas, dejando de lado los sucesos del resto de
las entidades que conformaban la Capitanía General. En el caso merideño
son escasos los trabajos realizados por investigadores profesionales sobre la
temática, a pesar de existir bibliotecas y archivos que contienen colecciones
de manuscritos que abarcan estos dos eventos históricos. Por tal motivo, este
artículo se encargará de estudiar la documentación de la Biblioteca Febres
Cordero (Mérida) alusiva al período, y las colecciones particulares de León
Febres Cordero y Antonio Febres Cordero. Finalizaremos con una valoración
general de la colección, su estado de conservación y su utilidad.

| Resumen en otro Idioma | The War of Independence (1810-1821) and the establishment of the Republic of Colombia (1821-1830) are certainly two of the historical periods in which the history of Venezuela is usually divided, which have weighed more on the balance due to several causes, one of them for their participation and mythologizing of the figure of Simon Bolivar in these events. The historiography has mainly studied aspects of the process in the province of Caracas, leaving aside the events of other entities that formed the Captaincy General. For Merida, few studies have been carried out by professional researchers on the subject, despite the existence of libraries and archives containing collections of manuscripts that cover these two historical events. Therefore, this article will study the documents of the Febres Cordero Library (Merida state) alluding to the period, and private collections of Antonio Febres Cordero and Leon Febres Cordero. Finish with an overall assessment of the collection, its condition and its usefulness. |
