Resumen en otro Idioma | Population centers of rural areas use the aerial roots of hemi-epiphytes plants, Heteropsis flexuosa and Thoracocarpus bisecctus, for the construction of their houses, crafts and the commercial production of furniture. Settlers say they have to travel more than 9 km to obtain H. flexuosa and T. bissectus fibers in Jenaro Herrera. The resource is being exhausted and little is known about the management of these species. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the ability of cuttings of two size categories (10 to 15 cm and 15 to 20 cm) to resprout under controlled conditions. 62% of the cuttings from T. bissectus and 37% from H. flexuosa resprouted. There was no significant difference between resprout and the size categories cuttings of each species; but, there was a significant difference between species (P ≤ 0,05). The results show that further research is needed using other methods that allow us to obtain better results to manage these species. |
