| dc.description.abstract | El propósito de este trabajo es contribuir al estudio de la producción cuentística latinoamericana de los últimos años. Si bien el género del cuento tiene una amplia trayectoria desde la antigüedad, las últimas décadas del siglo XX en Latinoamérica, han sido testigo de cambios importantes en cuanto al género mismo, en el tratamiento de la temática y el auge y participación de
la escritura femenina. Para este breve panorama que constituye la primera
parte de un trabajo de mayor envergadura, nos remitiremos a los comienzos de la modernidad para situar al cuento literario y presentar algunos estudios de autores latinoamericanos que han teorizado sobre el tema y cuyos aportes han sido relevantes. Exploramos la temática y los aportes al cuento en dieciséis

| dc.description.abstract1 | The intention of this essay is to share in the study of the LatinAmerican short story output the thirty last years. Whereas short story as a genre holds a long trajectory since antiquity, the last decades of the twentieth century in LatinAmerica have witnessed fundamental changes in the genre itself, the treatment of themes and the barrage of new female writers. As this brief
perspective constitutes the initial stage of larger work, we will remit ourselves
to place short story at the beggining of literary modernity and present some
studies LatinAmerican authors who have theorized on the topic and whose
