Abstract
El propósito de divulgar los resultados que están contenidos en este artículo, los cuales provienen de una investigación realizada en el Archivo de Protocolos y la Hemeroteca de la Provincia de Sevilla (España), es el de dar a conocer una de las sociedades musicales que se organizaron en la actual capital de Andalucía y que era representativa de la alianza, en el campo de la cultura, de la aristocracia hispalense, con la burguesía comercial emergente y deseosa de ganar espacio social. Conocerla es, además, interesante porque —en el caso de la Sociedad Filarmónica de Sevilla en especial— ésta reclutaba a los jóvenes aprendices de música entre las clases pobres.
