| dc.description.abstract | La cebolla es una especie hortícola que se produce por semillas y completa su ciclo en dos años. En
condiciones normales, la floración se produce el segundo año de cultivo, cuando se hace la plantación de bulbos
es una planta bianual que necesita que bajas temperaturas induzcan la diferenciación de las yemas florales para
pasar de la fase vegetativa a la reproductiva y finalmente producir el cuajado de la semilla. El objetivo de esta
investigación fue estudiar el proceso de producción de semilla sexual de bulbos vernalizados. Una vez finalizado
el proceso de vernalizacion los bulbos fueron sembrado bajo las condiciones del campo experimental Las Cuibas
del INIA Lara ubicado a 09º48’40’’ N y 69º32’35’’ W, con altitud de 1648 msnm, con temperaturas que oscilaron
entre 22,15 ºC máx. y 14,95 ºC min, y precipitación de 1190,1mm.

| dc.description.abstract1 | Onion is a horticultural species that is produced by seeds and completes its cycle in two years. Under normal
conditions, flowering occurs the second year of cultivation, when planting bulbs is a bi-annual plant that needs low
temperatures to induce differentiation of flower buds to pass from the vegetative to the reproductive phase and
finally produce the Seed curd. The objective of this research was to study the process of producing sexual seeds
from vernalized bulbs. Once the vernalization process was completed, the bulbs were sown under the conditions
of the INIA Las Cuibas experimental field, located at 09º48'40 '' N and 69º32'35 '' W, with an altitude of 1648
meters above sea level, with temperatures ranging from 22.15 ° C max. and 14.95 ° C min, and precipitation of
1190.1mm. Once the bulbs were sown and developed, the beginning of flowering was evaluated, which was
counted from the beginning of planting, the number of umbels and flowers per umbel determined by counting in
300 randomly selected bulbs and in the seeds the number and weight of seeds by umbels. The beginning of
flowering occurred 32 days after sowing, The average number of inflorescence of each sown bulb was two, The
umbel type inflorescences produced between 200 and 250 white flowers and had on average a 3 seeds, They are
mature at 90 days after sowing. Each umbel produced an average of 750 seeds weighing 1.36 g. The weight of
