| dc.description.abstract | El texto estudia el motivo iconográfico de los animales en la obra del fotógrafo
venezolano Nelson Garrido. Desde una perspectiva semiótica e iconográfica,
el estudio traza la genealogía de los diferentes modos de semantización de las
imágenes a partir del análisis de su bestiario fotográfico. En esta cartografía, los
animales aparecen como vectores que invitan al espectador a reflexionar sobre
la finitud, el sacrificio, la obscenidad y la abyección. Colgados, destripados,
aplastados, ensangrentados, viscerales, fragmentados, disecados, plásticos,
juguetones, repugnantes o risueños, los animales garridianos se enhebran en
la profunda estructura narrativa de sus fotografías y puestas en escena.

| dc.description.abstract1 | The text studies the iconographic motif of animals in the work of Venezuelan
photographer Nelson Garrido. From a semiotic and iconographic perspective,
the study traces the genealogy of the different modes of semantization of the
images from the analysis of his photographic bestiary. In this cartography,
animals appear as vectors that invite the viewer to reflect on finitude, sacrifice,
obscenity, and abjection. Hanged, disemboweled, crushed, bloodied, visceral,
fragmented, dissected, plastic, playful, repugnant, or laughing, Garridian
animals are threaded into the deep narrative structure of his photographs and
