| dc.description.abstract | La presente investigación es de tipo cualitativa, con enfoque socio crítico, pone de
manifiesto los intereses,
valores y supuestos que subyacen en la educación superior tecnológica y los elementos
socioculturales en los
que se desarrollan los informantes de cara a las decisiones formativas necesarias para
el desarrollo social y
económico del país. El objetivo principal fue determinar las expectativas formativas
de los estudiantes de tercer
año de bachillerato de la Región 1 de Ecuador, tanto en campo del conocimiento, así
como las condiciones
académicas de su preferencia. El instrumento utilizado para la recolección de la
información corresponde a un
cuestionario diseñado en forms a partir de los resultados se extrajeron los datos en
plantilla dinámica de Excel
para su posterior depuración y tabulación de datos objeto del análisis. Se obtuvieron
3966 respuestas de
bachilleres interesados en los estudios de tecnología principalmente en los campos del
conocimiento de la
ingeniería, industria y construcción, salud y bienestar, educación y, tecnologías de
la información y la
comunicación. Los hallazgos evidenciaron la brecha existente entre el número de
matrículas para carreras de
tercer nivel y el número de matrículas para carreras de nivel técnico y tecnológico.
Como posibles causas resaltan
la poca oferta académica existente en el mercado para carreras de este tipo, así como
el costo de estudiar en
institutos tecnológicos. De ahí la necesidad de fomentar en el ámbito laboral y
educativo las competencias y
habilidades técnicas que los profesionales adquieren para el desarrollo de actividades
de nivel intermedio.

dialectical vision that highlights interests, values and assumptions that underlie in
the technological high education
as well as the the socio cultural elements in which the informants develop with a view
to make formative decisions
that favor the social and economical development of the country. The main objective of
the study was to determine
the training expectations of third year students of baccalaureate of the so called
Region 1 in Ecuador in knowledge
as in the academic conditions of their preference. A questionaire was used as tool to
collect data. The data
corresponded to 3996 respondents from high school interested in pursuing technological
studies in the fields of
knowledge of engineering, industry and construction as well as health, wellfare,
education, ICTs and
communication. The findings evidenced the gap between registerings for third level
careers and the number of
registerings for technologycal careers. The little academic offer available in the
market as well as the cost of
studying in a technological institute are among the possible causes for the existing
gap. Hence, the need to
promote in workplaces and in educational contexts the technical skills and abilities
that professionals need for the
