dc.description.abstractEl presente artículo tiene el objetivo de examinar las percepciones que se han formado los chinos y gitanos sobre la identidad de los venezolanos que viven en la población venezolana fronteriza de Rubio. Se parte de la revisión teórica de enfoques de identidad, identidad comunitaria y societal que dan origen a la identidad nacional e identidad social y cultural, se continúa con las aproximaciones de frontera y de percepciones. El método utilizado es el cualitativo con entrevistas en profundidad a seis informantes, tres de cada grupo, y la técnica de análisis de contenido. Los resultados muestran percepciones positivas y negativas, elementos comunes y contrastantes al igual que dualidades en cuanto a la percepción del rubiense. Se concluye que los chinos y gitanos son grupos con identidades muy firmes y estables para los cuales la frontera es una herramienta para lograr el objetivo de mejorar sus niveles de vida y obtener un mejor futuro y que pueden abandonarla cuando pierda dinamismo pues no aspiran a integrarse plenamente con la sociedad receptora.es_VE

dc.description.abstract1This article aims to examine the perceptions that Chinese and Gypsies have shaped about the identity of Venezuelans living in the Venezuelan border town of Rubio. It begins with a theoretical revision of approaches about identity, community and societal identity that produce the national identity and social and cultural identity; it continues with the revision of approaches of borders and of perceptions. It uses qualitative method with in-depth interviews with six informants, three for each group, and it uses the content analysis technique. The results show positive and negative perceptions, common and contrasting elements, as well as, dualities in the perception about the people from Rubio. It concludes that Chinese and Gypsies are groups with very firm and stable identities for whom the border, Rubio and its people are seen as tools to achieve and improve their living standards and build a better future. However, they are willing to abandon them when the border loses dynamism because they do not intend to fully integrate with the welcoming society.es_VE
