| dc.description.abstract | Este trabajo investigativo tuvo como propósito elaborar y ejecutar un Plan de Manejo Ambiental y generar alternativas de turismo sostenible, en el Bosque Protector “Cascada de Peguche”,en la comunidad indígena FacchaLLacta-Otavalo. Un lugar de importancia cultural, histórica y natural en total abandono y destrucción por el
inadecuado manejo socioambiental. Se realizó el diagnóstico de los potenciales interpretativos; inventario de flora y fauna del bosque; estudio del visitante y socioeconómico de la comunidad local; análisis del sistema hidrológico y suelos, y la elaboración de programas ambientales. Se aplicó la investigación-acción, estudio de campo, documental y bibliográfico fundamentado en la investigación etnográfica; entrevistas a adultos mayores hombres y mujeres del sector, encuestas a visitantes de Otavalo, guías de observación, talleres educativo-ambientales y convenios con Ministerios del Ambiente y Turismo. El Plan permitió la declaratoria de “Bosque y Vegetación Protectores”, ejecución de 9 programas de manejo ambiental, afluencia de turistas-132 países (48.000 visitantes/año).
