| dc.description.abstract | En el presente escrito intentamos analizar la obra del militar,
viajero y geógrafo italiano Agustín Codazzi, quien vino a jugar un
papel fundamental en el proceso de fundación de la nación venezolana
entre 1830-1850. Igualmente, ambicionamos hacer una aproximación
al trabajo de este inmigrante tomando en cuenta cómo a partir de la
desmembración de la República de Colombia (1830), su trabajo ayudó
a alcanzar la consolidación del país como una unidad independiente
más allá de sus divisiones y diferencias internas. Asimismo, buscaremos
reconocer cómo, dentro del proceso de fundación de la nación
venezolana, logró dotar a la República de un saber geográfico inédito
con el cual ayudó a situar a la Venezuela decimonónica en el concierto

and geographer Agustin Codazzi Italian, who came to play a key role in
the foundation process of the Venezuelan nation between 1830-1850.
Also, try to make an approach to this work taking into account how
immigrants from the dismemberment of the Republic of Colombia
(1830), work helped achieve the consolidation of the country as an
independent unit beyond its internal divisions and differences. Also
seek to recognize how in the process of foundation of the Venezuelan
nation, the Republic managed to provide an unprecedented geographic
knowledge with which helped put the nineteenth Venezuela in the
