dc.description.abstractLa encomienda fue una de las instituciones indianas trascendentales en el proceso de colonización iniciado por los españoles en el Nuevo Mundo americano, por tanto, uno de los pilares clave de la economía y sociedad merideña de los siglos XVI y XVII. Las particularidades geográficas de la región influyeron en su organización y funcionamiento, razón por la cual entender dicha institución demanda el conocimiento y análisis de sus aspectos metodológicos fundamentales, tarea que nos planteamos en el presente artículo.es_VE

dc.description.abstract1The encomienda was one of the transcendental Indian institutions in the colonization process initiated by the Spaniards in the American New World, therefore, one of the key pillars of the economy and society of Merida in the 16th and 17th centuries. The geographic particularities of the region influenced its organization and operation, which is why understanding said institution requires knowledge and analysis of its methodological aspects fundamental, a task that we propose in this article.es_VE
