El espacio pictórico de la civilidad republicana en la obra de Juan Lovera (1776-1841)

Abstract
Se realiza un análisis significativo
de las dos obras emblemáticas del pintor
caraqueño Juan Lovera (1776-1841), El
tumulto del 19 de Abril de 1810 (1835)
y Firma del Acta de la Independencia
el 5 de julio de 1811 (1838), a partir de
la metodología de la historia cultural
en alianza con la historia del arte. Se
procura una interpretación de estas
obras alejada de los lugares comunes
de la historiografía del arte venezolano,
para desentrañar el pensamiento plástico
que Lovera construye en ellas de cara a
la configuración de un espacio pictórico
distinto al del arte colonial, adaptado
a los nuevos tiempos republicanos en
la década de 1830. La configuración
del espacio pictórico de la civilidad
queda entonces expuesto a partir de
los principios relativos que introduce
Lovera en estas pinturas y que no
están vinculadas con la visión heroica
de la historia de Venezuela a la que
se plegarán las artes plásticas a partir
de la segunda mitad del siglo XIX.

| Resumen en otro Idioma | A significant analysis of the two emblematic works of the Caracas painter Juan Lovera (1776-1841), El tumulto del 19 de Abril de 1810 (1835) y Firma del Acta de la Independencia el 5 de julio de 1811 (1838), with the help of the methodology of cultural history in alliance with the history of art. An interpretation of these works is sought away from the common places of the Venezuelan art historiography, to unravel the pictorical thinking that Lovera constructs in them to configure a pictorial space different from that of colonial art, adapted to the new republican times in the 1830s. The configuration of the pictorial space of civility is then exposed from the related principles introduced by Lovera in these paintings and which are not linked to the heroic vision of the history of Venezuela to which the arts will be folded from the second half of the nineteenth century. |
