Abstract
El trabajo aborda la construcción geo-histórica de los LLanos Altos Occidentales de
Venezuela, a partir de los cambios ocurridos en las formas productivas, las poblaciones de
los asentamientos y las rutas comerciales, los principales ejes de su conformación territorial.
Metodológicamente dichos cambios son articulados a los procesos de territorializacióndesterritorialización-
reterritorialización sucedidos durante cinco tiempos espaciales en la
región: el territorio indígena de finales del siglo XV, el sistema hacendal de los siglos XVII
y XVIII, la descomposición regional del siglo XIX, la recomposición territorial de mediados
del siglo XX y las actuales ondas agro-empresariales, todos contextualizados en la historia agraria del país.

| Resumen en otro Idioma | This work deals with geo-historical construction of the western high plains of Venezuela, from the changes occurred in the different production forms, the settlement populations, the commercial routs and the main axes of their territory conformation. Methodologically, those changes are articulated with the territorialization-deterritorialization-reterritorialization processes during five space times of the region: the indigenous land of the late 15th, the 17th and 18th century farm system, the regional breakdown of 19th century, the mid-20th century agricultural modernization of the region and the current agri-industrial production, urban settlement and trade routes. |
