Abstract
En este artículo analizamos la pos-pacificación de la Araucanía en la actual zona de Villarrica, entre los años 1900 y 1920. Se hace una evaluación del proceso de control estatal sobre el territorio, la seguridad pública, la educación, entre otras variables, usando para ello la visión oficial de las Memorias del Ministerio del Interior y otras fuentes oficiales, esta información se contrastará a nivel local por medio de archivos y documentos locales. Planteamos que la ocupación de Villarrica por parte del Estado chileno, no llevó a este último a un asentamiento institucional y al control efectivo del territorio incorporado, debido a la dinámica de desintegración étnica e incorporación de nuevos contingentes poblacionales que no ayudaban en el deterioro de las tensiones que hubieran permitido una efectiva “pacificación y domesticación de la zona”.

An evaluation is made of state control of the territory, including public safety and education, among other variables, using the official version of the Memorias of the Ministry of the Interior and other official sources. This information is contrasted with local documentation. It is argued that the occupation of Villarrica by the Chilean State did not make this city an institutional settlement and that the effective control of the incorporated territory, due to the dynamics of ethnic disintegration and the incorporation of new population elements that did not help in worsening of the stress that would have allowed effective "pacification and domestication of the place". |
