Resumen en otro Idioma | In order to make a first characterization of sheep production systems (SPO) in the State of Veracruz, Mexico, they were included in the 300 study of 2.525 units of production (UP) in the State reported by the Secretary of Agriculture Rural forestry development and fisheries (SEDARP). in 2008 In the absence of an up-to-date register of producers, it used a sampling not probabilistic using the snowball method, with producers and key actors involved in the activity. Designed a survey integrated into three general sections: structure of the UP characteristic socio-economic producers and technical characteristics of the UP. Found that 42% of the SPO are subsistence (< sheep 15), 21% are transitional (16 to 50 sheep) and 37% are business ( 50 sheep), with an average area of 4.5, 47 and 52.5 has, respectively. The main breeds used were Pelibuey and Black Belly and their crosses with Kathadin and Dorper. The most common methods of grazing are the transhumante on the shores of roads and the curl. Producers considered that the development of the activity of sheep production is attractive for the existing demand and prices of the market, however, performed as a secondary activity, in addition to producers are not organized for the production. |
