difractado espacio criollo continental.

Resumen en otro Idioma | This article studies the book of poems entitled An Eye Called Hunt (2008) by the young Chilean poet Marcela Saldaño (Santiago, 1981) from the perspective of its connections with the Caribbean as a cultural area characterized by African slavery. Saldaño’s aesthetic is not clear and approaches Romanticism and Surrealism. For this reason, the study begins by establishing that these European movements raise issues concerning slavery and racism and that these relationships actualize in the diffracted Creole space in the continent. We get an insight into Saldaño’s poetics of mystery through the notions of disproportion, dandyism and opacity and we show the infl uence therein of Bob Marley’s Reggae and in particular Aimé Césaire’s poetry. Our approach is at once critical and (auto) biographical with particular emphasis on observing the dynamics of the promotion of culture and the issues of translation which arise from them. |
