Resumen en otro Idioma | To detect the presence of subclinical mastitis in cattle hand milked (HM) and mechanically milked machine (MM), crossbred cattle 160 milk samples were analized, 80 from HM and 80 from MM, collected in four (4) farms from Zulia state, Venezuela. At the farm level, California Mastitis Test (CMT) was performed and at the laboratory, bacteriological cultures (BC) were made as well as somatic cell counts (SCC). For the SCC, Somalite by Charm Sc® was used. The highest mastitis prevalence was in mechanically milked samples. The pathogen agents in MM were coagulase positive Staphylococcus (CPS) (40.00%), coagulase negative Staphylococcus (CNS) (28.00%) and Streptococcus spp (17.00%) whereas for HM were CNS (40.63%), CPS (28.13%) and Corynebacterium spp (20.31%). According to the BC, the prevalence in hand milked quarters was 58.67% and for milking machine was 87.34%. That association (P<0.001) between infection and milking type by ji-square was found. The CMT prevalence for HM was 72% and 57% for ≥1+ and ≥2+ reactions respectively. For MM, were 70% and 57%. The major correlation between BC and CMT was to ≥2+ reactions in HM. For MM the CMT results to both thresholds were less than BC. The association between BC and CMT (P<0.05) was determined by Fisher test for both in HM, quarters, there was not association to MM (P>0.05) for the thresholds. The SCC in MM was 7,966,137.83 cel/mL. In HM the SCC were 730,527.57 cel/mL. ANOVA indicated that the milking type had a Significative effect in the SCC (P<0.001). The Sperman correlation coefficient to CMT was r = 0.42 (P<0.001) in HM quarters and r = 0.55 (P<0.001) to MM quarters. |
