Resumen en otro Idioma | Twenty-two cows with meritis were alternately treated with antibiotics using the endo-arterial (AP) or intra-uterine (IU) method in order to compare their effect on calving intervals to first postpartum estrus (ICFE), calving to conception (ICC) and services per conception (SC). The AP treatment comprised the administration of 60 mL of novocaine (0.25%) + 20 mL of oxytetracycline (50mg/mL) using the aorthic abdominal via. The IU treatment comprised the intra-uterina administration of 50 mL of Oxytetracyclina (50 mg/mL) intravenously during 3 days. Although cows receiving AP had ICFE and ICC 9.75 and 18.27 days shorter, respectively, than cows receiving IU treatment, these differences were not statistically significant (P>0,05). Our findings suggest that either AP or IU may be used for treatment of acute puerperal metritis in lactating cows. |
