dc.description.abstractRespondemos tres preguntas: Porqué esta Reforma Universitaria ocurrió en Argentina, porqué en la Universidad de Córdoba y porqué fue solo una re- forma política y jurídica de la Universidad? Argenti- na a finales del siglo XIX y principios del XX era la nación más rica de América Latina y con gran peso político por sus exportaciones de cereales y carne de bovino y su fuerte presencia en los foros internacio- nales. Tenía una gran pujanza por una migración eu- ropea que en su segunda generación representó una clase emergente en la economía. La universidad de Córdoba era asiento de los residuos del atraso mo- nástico y clerical de la colonia y de la corrupción po- lítica y académica. El Radicalismo argentino centró su empeño en la universalidad del sufragio de donde emergieran gobiernos democráticos, representativos y alternativos. En el caso de la universidad, el Claus- tro Universitario se consideró “un pueblo soberano universitario” para elegir autoridades y un cogobier- no de manera autónoma.es_VE

dc.description.abstract1We answer three questions: Why did this University Reform happen in Argentina, why at the University of Córdoba and why was it just a political and le- gal reform of the University? Argentina in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries was the richest nation in Latin America and with great po- litical weight for its exports of cereals and beef and its strong presence in international forums. It had a great strength for a European migration that in its second generation represented an emerging class in the economy. The University of Córdoba was the seat of the residue of the monastic and clerical back- wardness of the colony and of political and academic corruption. Argentine Radicalism focused its efforts on the universality of suffrage from which demo- cratic, representative and alternative governments emerged. In the case of the university, the Univer- sity Senate was considered “a sovereign university people” to choose authorities and a co-government autonomously.es_VE
