Salud Mental en Estudiantes Universitarios de Arte Venezolanos.

dc.description.abstractEstudio de campo no experimental de enfoque cuantitativo. El objetivo fue evaluar el estado de salud mental de los estudiantes de las carreras de Artes Visuales y de Diseño Gráfico de la Facultad de Arte de la Universidad de los Andes (Mérida, Venezuela) y compararlo con estudiantes de otras carreras de la misma universidad y de otras universidades venezolanas y españolas. Para establecer el estado de salud mental se utilizó el General Health Questionary (GHQ-28). La muestra estuvo constituida por 318 estudiantes entre principio, mitad y final de la carrera, 119 (44.07 %) pertenecientes a la carrera Artes Visuales y 199 (42.24%) a la carrera de Diseño Gráfico. El 15,6 % de los estudiantes de la Facultad de Arte resultaron con GHQ-28 positivo, que es el porcentaje más bajo de los reportados en investigaciones afines realizadas en otras universidades venezolanas y españolas. El malestar psicológico no varía significativamente en la carrera de Diseño Gráfico de acuerdo a la etapa de la carrera que curse el estudiante; mientras que sí lo hace en la carrera de Artes Visuales (p<0,01). Por otra parte, el síntoma de malestar psicológico prevalente en la Escuela de Artes Visuales y Diseño Gráfico fue: Ansiedad e Insomnio.es_VE

dc.description.abstract1Non-experimental field study of quantitative approach.The objective of the present study was to evaluate the condition of mental health among students of Visual Arts and Graphic Design careers, of the Art Faculty at the Universidad de Los Andes in Merida, Venezuela, and compare it with students from other careers from the same university and other Venezuelan and Spanish universities. The sample consisted of 318 students from the beginning, middle and end of the careers, 119 (44.07%) from the Visual Arts career and 199 (42.24%) from Graphic Design career. We used the General Health Questionary (GHQ-28) test to establish the condition of mental health. 15.6% of students of the Art Faculty were GHQ-28 positive, which is the lowest of those reported in similar researches in others Venezuelan and Spanish universities. Psychological distress does not vary significantly in the career of Graphic Design according to the stage of the career that the student is; while it does in the career of Visual Arts (p <0.01). Moreover, the prevalent symptoms of psychological distress at the School of Visual Arts and Graphic Design are anxiety and insomnia.es_VE
