| dc.description.abstract | Remedios Varo es una pintora nacida en Anglés, un pueblo de la provincia de Gerona al norte de Barcelona. Artista formada
académicamente en la Escuela de Bellas Artes de Madrid, cuya vida estará marcada por la inestabilidad política de España y los acontecimientos de la guerra civil, condiciones que la obligan a emigrar primero a Francia, donde se pone en contacto con el grupo de los surrealistas, movimiento artístico que infl uye profundamente en su obra. Contactos que se verán interrumpidos por la ocupación nazi en Francia en 1940. Situación que la obliga a emigrar a México. En este país Remedios Varo vive hasta su muerte, allí desarrolla su trabajo, sus búsquedas artísticas, y sobre todo logra confi gurar el lenguaje propio que defi niría su pintura. En sus obras, lo femenino, la cotidianidad, el mundo doméstico de la casa y sus objetos, así como la naturaleza y el cosmos, responden a una conciencia artística que ve el mundo como un orbe donde todo encuentra relaciones de correspondencias. | es_VE |

| dc.description.abstract1 | The painter Remedios Varo was born in Angles, a town in the province of Gerona, situated to the north of Barcelona. She
acquired her artistic background in the Escuela de Bellas Artes in Madrid. Her life, however, was to be marred by political
instability in Spain and the events of the Civil War. These circumstances led her to immigrate fi rst to France where she
established contact with the members of Surrealism. This movement had a deep infl uence on her work. Her life in France was
further interrupted by the Nazi occuation in 1940 and she was forced to immigrate to Mexico where she lived until her death. In Mexico she was able to continue her work and her inquiries into the nature of art. Above all, she was able to achieve her own language. Her paintings would thus be defi ned. In her paintings, feminine issues, daily life, the domestic world of home and the things that fi ll it, and in addition, nature and the cosmos, all were inspired by an artistic conscience that sees the world as a planet where everything is linked in a network of relationships. | es_VE |
