The Regional Center of Humanistic, Economic, and Social Research, CRIHES is a research unit which in the area of the social and human sciences has been one of the most active and productive centers of the Universidad de Los Andes. It was formed fifteen years ago, having as its immediate antecedent the Center of Documental Information (CID) which as a function of the researchers in the social sciences, established and supported the Department of the Social Sciences for various years and whose diminution, above all due to budgetary reasons, compelled thought on wide-ranging and definitive solutions to the strengthening of research activities. Thus, an interdisciplinary group of instructors gave life to a center which, through research, represented and permitted them to know, to establish direct contact, and to contribute suggestions and ideas to the communities in our immediate environment regarding its socio-educational problems, the philosophic background in which it is sustained, and the economic and socio-historical setting in which it has been contextualized. It is through "the scientific exam and reflection" that this is carried out and it was out of these ideas that the CRIHES was born. The systematic completion of these objectives over time has led to the creation of permanent programs in the same way that it has led to temporary ones (workshops, forums, short courses). These programs are planned according to there productive capacity and the contact that is maintained with the trujillana community. This intricacy can be understood beginning from the reading of its organizational structure. Sustained programs are: - The Master's in Educational Management. - The Magazine Ágora-Trujillo. - Community attention program from the Psychology Unit. - Diploma in the Stimulation of Infant and Juvenile development in the classroom. - Philosophy Program for Children. - Symposiums on Trujillana History.
