The CESIMO (Center of Simulation and Models), was created in 1990 with the aim of uniting the endeavors of various researchers of the Universidad de Los Andes who for years had been carrying out research activities, extension programs, and undergraduate and postgraduate instruction in areas related to simulation and modeling. The CESIMO is an interdisciplinary center in which more than 20 years of experience of many of its members and the dynamism of more youthful members are combined. In the Center, the researchers work in diverse areas: Engineering, Economic and Social Sciences, Forestry Engineering, and Basic Sciences. The principal lines of investigation of the center are: - Languages and platforms of simulation, - Applications in environmental problems, - Applications in socioeconomic systems and - Technicalities of advanced simulation (including parallel simulation, logic, networks, etc). Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the center and of the postgraduate, other research areas or topics of interest to postgraduate students are also possible. The CESIMO has as its objective the realization of activities such as research, projects, technical advisement, services, technological development, advanced studies, and the support of academic programs, undergraduate and postgraduate, in the scientific fields of models and simulation. The CESIMO is an academic unit that hosts Postgrado en Modelado y SimulaciĆ³n de Sistemas of the Universidad de Los Andes.
